Bought a Dan-Inject dart gun

For several reasons I recently decided it was time to invest in a basic dart gun.  First, with the recent addition of three new bison bulls to our ranch, I've began thinking more urgently about what I would do if the bison were to escape.  I want to have tranquilizing available to me as an option.  Secondly, there will be times when it will be necessary to administer medications in a manner less stressful than a squeeze chute.

For my purposes I decided to purchase a Dan-Inject CO2 Dart Pistol in a package that includes the pistol, several needles, syringe darts, and CO2 cartridges.

When the dart gun kit arrived I immediately set up a cardboard box target in my living room and began practicing.

Keep in mind when viewing the above video that a bison's hide and muscle is far stronger than a cardboard box, so, although the dart may hurt a little, it wont actually go through a bison.

During these practice shots I experimented with the gun's variable pressure settings and learned how important it is to have the correct pressure setting.  As is evident in the below video, if the pressure is too low the dart can fall short of it's target.

Whenever I do end up actually using this tool, I'll post the results to this blog.
